A man in City Heights died after a tree limb fell on him; a family had reported the tree's condition to the city earlier. Weather conditions were severe at the time.
Another portion of the tree fell on a nearby home, but did not cause any injuries, in an incident that occurred around 10:55 a.m. on the corner of Marlborough Avenue and Wightman Street, a block south of University Avenue, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Capt. Jason Shanley and San Diego police Sgt. David Yu.
In Spanaway, high winds and the saturated ground brought a massive tree down on a home, nearly crushing a teen.
Multiple fallen trees and power outages were reported after high winds and heavy rain took a hit on areas of Woodside and Portola Valley. Over 200 residents around Highway 84 and 35 are currently out of power.
“I threw on shoes and a jacket and sprinted over, ran through the fence, and ran over to check on him, and he slept through the whole thing,” said Anderson. Anderson said his neighbor is lucky to be alive after he found him asleep with his dog, with the tree narrowly missing the two.
